Building Industry Partners

Founded in 2008 by Matt Ogden, Building Industry Partners (BIP) is the leading private equity investment firm focused exclusively on the U.S. middle-market building industry.  BIP co-founded or was the first PE sponsor of a number of the fastest-growing building industry platform companies of the past decade, including U.S. LBM Holdings, Kodiak Building Partners, Homewood Holdings, and U.S. Fence Solutions/Binford Supply.

In 2021, BIP launched Aligned Equity Holdings (Aligned), a purpose-driven and sector-focused investment holding company, as its go-forward flagship investment vehicle.  Aligned launches and builds private manufacturing, distribution, and installation segment platform companies and is pioneering broad-based employee ownership and the strategic advancement of human capital management (HCM) practices at its businesses in order to build better businesses and grow workforce economic prosperity.

As part of the long-term strategic relationship between HFI and BIP, Ken Hersh serves as Co-Chair of BIP’s Strategic Advisory Council.
